The Seven Planetary Functions and the Way the Dignities of Saturn Are Related to the Degrees of the Zodiac

The top row of signs is the signs in which Saturn is in dignity, and these placements constitute the henad of Saturn. These dignities are, respectively, the Body (fall), Soul (detriment), Nature (detriment), Intellect (exaltation), Life (rulership), and Being (rulership) of Saturn. The rest of the chart in this diagram has not been completed. Note: in the metaphysical chart, the Saturn rulership in Capricorn is Being (not Life, as in this diagram) and the Saturn rulership in Aquarius is Life (not Being, as in this diagram).

In the lower half of the page, the way these Saturn dignities contribute to an individual degree of the zodiac is indicated. To the left of the first five Saturn dignities is a planetary glyph. Perhaps these correlate with the dignities of houses 10-12 as follows: Saturn with Saturn in Capricorn and Aquarius (Being rulerships), Jupiter with Jupiter in Pisces (Life rulership), Mars with Mars in Capricorn (Intellect exaltation), Venus in Pisces (Intellect exaltation), and Moon in Capricorn (Soul detriment).

On the left side (reading top to bottom), the three detriments in houses 12, 10, and 11 are labeled with terms from the Samkhya tradition.
