Universal Soul as Informing Both Tenth-House Matter and the Gnostic Functions of the Cosmic Soul

In the upper left are two rows of planets. The top row consists of the rulerships and exaltations of houses 9-7 (the third quadrant), reading from left to right. Below that are the dignities of house 10.

The Jupiter in the upper right is Jupiter in Sagittarius. The juxtaposition of these two lines, plus the label “informs matter,” indicates that Universal Soul (third-quadrant rulerships and exaltations) is providing form to the matter of the universe (house 10).

The dotted diagonal line goes from Jupiter in Sagittarius to a circle that represents the Sun in Aquarius.

Within the circle are two concentric rings filled with planetary glyphs. The outer ring contains the dignities of houses 9-12, distributed around a twelvefold circle so that the dignities of house 9 are in the first quadrant, the dignities of house 10 are in the second quadrant, the dignities of house 11 are in the third quadrant, and the dignities of house 12 are in the fourth quadrant. Damiani sometimes refers to this ring as the “Jupiter ring” or “Demiurgic Intellect ring.”

The next ring contains the exaltations of houses 9-12, then the detriments of houses 9-12, and then the rulerships of houses 9-12. Damiani sometimes refers to this ring as the “Partial Soul ring” or “[Dragon’s] Tail ring.”

To the right of this circle is a line of planets with a dotted line connecting them to the Sun in Aquarius. Reading from right to left, these are the detriments in houses 5-10, which Damiani sometimes refers to as the “Soul ring,” or “individual Soul” (whether cosmic or human).

The Sun and Moon at the bottom are the falls of the third quadrant.
