Idea of Man

At the top are the dignities of the first quadrant (the Triad) in four groups: rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and falls. The signs below each planet are the other dignities of that planet that occur later in the order of the zodiacal signs from Aries to Pisces. For example, Venus in Taurus has the signs Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Pisces listed but omits Venus in Aries, since Aries comes before Taurus. (When all the signs in which a planet is in dignity are listed, they represent the henad of that planet.)

If a planet is in dignity in houses 5-8 (the second third of the metaphysical chart), the sign is circled. Although the label says that these refer to the “being of the idea of man,” this seems to be a mistake and should refer to the Life of the Idea of Man, as is noted below.

At the bottom, in house 1, the signs corresponding to houses 1-4 are labeled “Being of the idea of Man”; the signs corresponding to houses 5-8 are labeled “Life of the idea”; and the signs corresponding to houses 9-12 are labeled “manifestation of the idea.”
