Different Ways of Mapping the Samkhya System on to the Dignities of the Metaphysical Chart

At the top, the dignities of houses 7-12 of the metaphysical chart are depicted in four partial “rings,” with the rulerships and exaltations in red in the two outer rings and the detriments and falls in blue in the two inner ones. Also, there is a Venus in house 6, which should be in the fall ring, not the detriment ring, and a Mars in house 5, also in the fall ring.

Some of the planets in the fall ring (sometimes called the Body monad), either singly or in pairs, are labeled as the Samkhya tattvas: buddhi, ahamkara, tanmatras, and bhutas.

In the lower left, the dignities of houses 10-12 are listed in a 3-column by 4-row table. The columns, reading from right to left, are the dignities of houses 10-12, and the rows, reading from top to bottom, are the rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and falls.

In the lower right, there is a 4-row by 4-column table. The top row consists of Jupiter in Sagittarius (Being rulership of house 9), Mars in Scorpio and Venus in Libra (Life rulerships in houses 8 and 7, respectively), Dragon’s Tail in Sagittarius (exaltation in house 9), and Saturn in Libra (exaltation in house 7). The next three rows are the dignities of houses 10-12, reading from top to bottom, grouped to form columns of rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and falls. However, the only dignity in house 12 listed is Jupiter in Pisces (Life rulership).
