The One

In the center, the list of planetary glyphs begins with the four dignities of house 1 and below them are listed the ten dignities of houses 1-3, in the order rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and fall.

On the left, there are five rows. The top row consist of the ten dignities of houses 1-3, in the order rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and falls. The seven dignities of the top row, beginning with the Sun in Aries and ending with Saturn in Aries, can be viewed as the column labels of a 7-column by 4-row table, where the Dragon’s Head also represents Mercury.

The first row, reading from top to bottom, labeled “Turiya,” consists of the first-quadrant signs in which the planet indicated by the column is in dignity.

The second row, labeled “Prajna,” consists of the second-quadrant signs in which the planet is in dignity.

The third row, labeled “Taijasa,” consists of the third-quadrant signs in which the planet is in dignity.

The fourth row, labeled “Vaish” (Vaishvanara), consists of the fourth-quadrant signs in which the planet is in dignity. Thus each column consists of all the signs in which the planet is in dignity—that is, the henad of the planet.
