The Metaphysical Meaning of the Twelve Zodiacal Signs, the Dignities of the First Quadrant, and Intellect, Soul, and Body Monads Arranged as Kabbalistic Trees

On the left side, running vertically, are the rulerships of houses 1-12, along with the short-form meaning of the twelve zodiacal signs according to T. S. Row.

At the top, there are four Kabbalistic trees. The tree labeled “Intellectual” consists of the planets in exaltation. However, Mars in Libra (detriment) is listed and Mars in Capricorn (exaltation) is missing, and Mercury in Gemini (rulership) is listed and Mercury in Virgo (exaltation) is missing. This is a result of jotting down the wrong sign next to Mars and Mercury.

The tree labeled “Soul” consists of the Soul detriments, and they are grouped in rows by quadrant.

The tree labeled “Body” consists of the falls, and they are grouped in rows by quadrant.

These three trees are then bracketed and beneath them is another tree that consists of the seven Chaldean planets. Next to each planet in this tree is a set of signs. These are all the signs in which that planet is in dignity if one excludes some of the dignities. The types of dignities to be excluded are listed in the brackets near that planet. For example, for the Sun, the diagram lists Aries, Aquarius, and Libra. These are the signs in which the Sun is in dignity if one excludes one rulership (that is, Leo). Or, consider Jupiter. The diagram lists Cancer, Gemini, and Capricorn. These are the dignities of Jupiter if one excludes two rulerships (that is, Sagittarius and Pisces) and one detriment (that is, Jupiter in Virgo). (Note: there’s a mistake with Mercury since the signs the diagram lists should be Virgo (not Gemini), Sagittarius, and Pisces, and the dignities excluded should include two rulerships (that is, Virgo and Gemini), not one. When the diagram is corrected in this way (and the corrections to the Intellectual tree are made, as noted above), then the only dignities listed next to the planets in this tree are ones that appear in one of the three trees above (the trees labeled “Intellectual,” “Soul,” and “Body”).

Finally, on the right, there is an unlabeled Kabbalistic tree. At the top, there is a cross formed by the dignities of house 1. Below them, on the left, are the dignities of house 2, and on the right, the dignities of house 3. There is a dotted arrow from the Sun in Aries that points to the second quadrant, a dotted arrow from Saturn in Aries that points to the fourth quadrant, and a dotted arrow from Venus in Aries that points to the third quadrant. These arrows indicate that these planets are the principles of these quadrants. And above Mars in Aries is a roman numeral I, which indicates that Mars in Aries is the principle of the first quadrant.
