Nidana Chain and the Five Skandhas (Buddhism)

The circle is implicitly divided into twelve houses. The rulerships of houses 4-8 are listed on the outside of the circle, and each one is associated with one of the five cosmic skandhas.

Outside of these rulerships are the exaltations and detriments of houses 1-3, distributed so that the exaltations of houses 1-3 are outside of the rulerships of houses 4-6, and the detriments of houses 1-3 are outside of the rulerships of houses 7-9. But note that instead of the Dragon’s Head as the exaltation in Gemini, Mercury in Gemini (rulership) is listed.

The dignities of houses 9-12 are also displayed, with the rulerships listed on the outside of the circle, and the exaltations, detriments, and falls in three partial “rings” inside the circle. Each of these dignities, except Mercury in Pisces (Body), is associated with one of the twelve links of the nidana chain.
