Metaphysical Chart

This is a 12-column by 4-row table. The columns are labeled with the twelve signs of the zodiac. The rows are rulerships, labeled “Intelligible”; exaltations, labeled “Intellectual”; detriments, labeled “Soul/Nature”; and falls, labeled “Body.”

Thus this is an alternative way of depicting the dignities of the metaphysical chart: each column lists the dignities of a given sign, or house, and each row depicts one of the rings of the metaphysical chart.

Each of the cells in this table is associated with one of the sixteen states of consciousness, where each of the four states—turiya (t.), deep sleep (s.), dream (d.), and waking (w.)—is, in turn, divided into four, so there is, for example, turiya-turiya (t.t.), turiya-sleep (t.s.), turiya-dream (t.d.), and turiya-waking (t.w.).

In this diagram, when determining the name of the state that applies to a dignity, the ring determines which of the states comes first, and the quadrant determines which of the states comes second.
