The Meaning of the Signs When Transposed to Other Quadrants

The top diagram divides the circle into four quadrants, and labels them “One,” “Being,” “Soul,” and “Body.” The zodiacal signs on the four points of the cross are those found in the metaphysical chart.

The bottom diagram divides the circle into four quadrants, but the signs on the four points of the cross have been rotated 180 degrees, so Libra is on the ascendant and Aries is on the descendant.

The labels on the four quadrants show how the meaning of the signs in the top diagram change when transposed to the opposite quadrant. For example, instead of the first quadrant of the bottom diagram referring to the One, it refers to “Soul integrated”—that is, the referent of the three signs in the third quadrant (Soul) becomes the subject of which unity (first quadrant) is predicated. Or, instead of the second quadrant of the bottom diagram referring to Intellect, it refers to “Intellect existentialized”—that is, the referent of the three signs in the second quadrant (Intellect) becomes the subject of which existence, in the opposite quadrant (fourth quadrant), is predicated.

Note that in the bottom diagram, for quadrants 1 and 3, the meanings of the opposite quadrant in the top diagram becomes the subject and the meanings of the actual quadrant forms the predicate, but in quadrants 2 and 4, the process is reversed: the meaning of the actual quadrant forms the subject and the meanings of the opposite quadrant becomes the predicate.
