A Table of Planetary Dignities Arranged as Henads and Monads

Henads and Monads

This is a 4-column by 7-row table. The four columns are the rulerships, exaltations, detriments, and falls, and the seven rows are the seven Chaldean planets. Thus this is another way to represent the placements of the dignities in the metaphysical chart.

Each row represents all of the signs in which the planet is in dignity, and all together these dignities constitute the henad of the planet.

Each planet is also identified with one of the seven monads: One, Being, Life, Intellect, Soul, Nature, and Body.

The rulership and detriment columns are each divided into subcolumns. The left subcolumn of rulerships lists the Being rulerships, and the right column lists the Life rulerships (but note that the Moon in Cancer, which is a Being rulership, should be in the left column, not the right).

The left subcolumn of the detriments lists the Soul detriments, and the right subcolumn lists the Nature detriments. Taking the subcolumns into account, the columns also constitute the monads of Being, Life, Intellect, Soul, Nature, and Body.

Each dignity is also labeled with one of the four states of consciousness (turiya, prajna, taijasa, vaishvanara), depending on which quadrant it is in (first, second, third, fourth, respectively). Note: “tejas,” which means “fire, luster, or brilliance,” is sometimes used instead of “taijasa” for the subtle, dreaming state.

There is also a column to the left of this table, labeled “Indeterminate Dyad,” that lists for each planet the signs in which it is in dignity in the first quadrant.
