How the Demiurge Assimilates the Twelve Ideas

Inside the circle is a vesica, which is divided into twelve sectors by the twelve houses of the circle. The dignities of houses 9-12 of the metaphysical chart are distributed so that the house-9 dignities are in the first quadrant, the house-10 dignities are in the second quadrant, the house-11 dignities are in the third quadrant, and the house-12 dignities are in the fourth quadrant of the vesica. Damiani sometimes refers to this configuration of dignities as the “Jupiter ring” or “Demiurgic Intellect ring.”

There is also a smaller circle that occupies houses 9-12 of the larger twelvefold circle.

Each of the dignities in house 1 (and by extension, the dignities in the rings in houses 2 and 3) and all the dignities in the Jupiter ring are associated with one of the sixteen states of consciousness, where each of the four states—turiya, prajna, taijasa, and vaishvanara—is, in turn, divided into four, so there is, for example, turiya-turiya, turiya-prajna, turiya-taijasa, and turiya-vaishvanara.

In this diagram, when determining the name of the state that applies to a dignity, the quadrant determines which of the states comes first, and the ring determines which of the states comes second. For example, Jupiter in Sagittarius is associated with taijasa-turiya because it’s in the third quadrant, so it’s a form of taijasa, but it’s in the rulership ring, so it’s the turiya form of taijasa—taijasa-turiya.

There is an arrow from Venus in Aries in house 1 of the metaphysical chart to Jupiter in Sagittarius in house 1 of the vesica, an arrow from Mars in Taurus in house 2 of the metaphysical chart to the Dragon’s Tail in Sagittarius in house 2 of the vesica, and an arrow from Jupiter in Gemini in house 3 of the metaphysical chart to Mercury in Sagittarius in house 3 of the vesica. These arrows indicate the ways in which the Demiurge assimilates the Ideas represented by houses 1-3.

In some classes on this topic (e.g., February 9, 1979), Damiani explains that this assimilation is made possible by the common substance of the two planets, which is indicated by their sharing one of the four states of consciousness. For example, in house 1 of the metaphysical chart, Venus in Aries is turiya-taijasa, and in house 1 of the vesica, Jupiter in Sagittarius is taijasa-turiya, so they share taijasa consciousness. A similar process could be described for each of the other nine dignities of the Jupiter ring.

However, since the dignities in houses 4-12 of the vesica are all in the fourth quadrant, which is associated with vaishvanara consciousness, they assimilate the corresponding Idea through the planet in fall in houses 4-12 of the metaphysical chart since the fall ring is also associated with vaishvanara consciousness. For example, Saturn in Aquarius in house 7 of the vesica is associated with vaishvanara-turiya, and the Sun in Libra in house 7 of the metaphysical chart is associated with taijasa-vaishvanara, so they share vaishvanara consciousness.
