ZODIACAL SPECULATIONS (Appendix to Wed., Oct. 28)

* What combines the matter and the categories?

The Sun in Aquarius is the imagination. Surrounding it are the immaterial liberated order, which would be the categories.

How are the Sun and the categories related?

Or, how are the Sun and the liberated order related?

From the supermundane order come the forms. The liberated order are responsible for the qualities, and the mundane order for the elements or the impressions.

* (Anthony: The schema is a phenomenal representation.)

The big question, as usual, is, what is the matter? Where is the unknown 'X' coming from?

By matter, we mean what's given by mind--The categories are combined with it by the schema.

Matter is not one of Kant's categories. So therefore it may not be in the 12th House.

* Again try to combine the signs with the grid, the 12 with the 7.

Each of the 7 spheres would have all 12 categories available. What would correspond to the categories?

Aries would correspond to the 'unity', etc.

Where is Kant's "thing-in-itself"?

There are the 1) categories

2) the Thing (unknown forces, 'X')

3) combining them would be the imagination, the schema

* The grid would be a representation of the schema because it has both the intellectual and the material, as the gnostic and fabricative functions, respectively.

Anthony: On the one hand, it produces the vaishvanara object and it would give a taijasa consciousness, i.e., the meaning, to that object.

The vaishvanara is here dealing with the matter.

The taijasa is dealing with the categories.

* The Sun in Aquarius represents the productive imagination. Then the projecting out a representation of itself is the sensible Sun, that productive imagination must be a reflective thing. The sensible Sun must be the reflective imagination, reflected in it are the 7 powers of the Soul or the 7 Titans. The cosmic organism in its entirety must be the reflective imagination, with the Cosmic Soul as the productive imagination. Insofar as the Sun is the reflective imagination, reflected in it are the 12 signs of the tropical or the 12 categories.

* The signs are both the intelligibility and the substance. The form and matter are intrinsically in the zodiac. The powers of the Soul must elicit from the zodiac the matter necessary and the knowing necessary.

* Sun in Leo is the Idea of Man, which includes everything necessary for its manifestation.

The intermediate liberated order is what the sensible zodiac directly represents. The 12 of the zodiac isn't directly imaging the Sun in Aquarius but uses the intermediary of the liberated order.

Going from Sun in Leo to Sun in Aquarius, the second zodiac is the 12-fold from the Sun in Leo to Saturn etc. in those four signs. Within that is the Jupiter Tail Saturn as the liberated order.

Beginning with Sun in Leo and going around, then Jupiter Tail Mercury would be the liberated order. Within that would be the sensible zodiac.

Then there are three zodiacs--the sensible zodiac, the zodiac in Soul, the zodiac in the Idea of Man.

* Is there a prefiguration of the schema in the 10th and the 11th? No, the 10th and 11th Houses are the matter and the categories, respectively, but there is no place for experience. We must bring in the 7 powers to get the schema.

* The sidereal zodiac is without the 7 powers. It's conceiving an image of Nature in the 10th and the 11th. The sidereal zodiac is there before the functioning of the 7 planets, and does not concern us.

* Anthony: Understanding is something that arises in us on Earth, of something being built on the fixed stars.
