This series of classes examines Napoleon Bonaparte's natal chart through progressive analytical layers. Initial study of his natal Chaldean planets reveals a confident ego structure (Saturn 26° Cancer “in luxurious library”) opposing moment-to-moment sensitivity to higher potentials (Moon 29° Capricorn “reading tea leaves”), with an audacious solar purpose (Sun 23° Leo “bareback rider”) and charismatic leadership (Jupiter 16° Scorpio “girl with aristocratic features breaks into a smile”).

The analysis then explores his natal trans-Saturnian planets—Uranus (12° Taurus “window-shoppers”), Neptune (9° Virgo “futuristic drawing”), and Pluto (14° Capricorn “ancient bas-relief carved in granite”), which were initially viewed as a transcendent consciousness added to the ego structure but later reinterpreted as universally prior principles that dictate what the psyche will attempt to convey.

The series develops a theory of aspects that distinguishes regular aspects from quintiles (mental processes relating psychic functions) and septiles (solutions/ideas from a higher consciousness). The July 1798 crisis (Napoleon learned his wife, Josephine, had been unfaithful) revealed a spiritual test: his regular aspects (Uranus sextile Jupiter, Jupiter square Sun) set up the psychological situation by withdrawing his projected libido; the quintile (Pluto bi-quintile Saturn) presented the test itself—a defect in his character (uncompromising self-interest) that Saturn's comfortable ego had to overcome; while septiles offered solutions from higher consciousness—Saturn septile Neptune providing the ideal of a unified Europe and Pluto tri-septile Mercury revealing his overevaluation of self. Napoleon chose the ego path, failing the test.

Later theoretical development examines Napoleon's Sun-Pluto bi-quintile as predetermined individuality expressing itself and his Sun-Moon tri-septile as a man capable of reading his destiny and changing it.
