IMAGINATION, with reference to Madhyamika, the Nidana Chain.

* In the 11th House, there is a coincidence of Reason Principles of the Demiurgic Intellect, and the last power of the Soul, the active imagination, in Sun in Aquarius.

The 12 Reason Principles (gods of the liberated order), where the Sun in Aquarius is, produces the inerratic, planetary and sublunary spheres of the 12th House. In the 12th House is also the Jupiter in Pisces, the life and the substratum of the universe, which does not come from the productive imagination of the Sun in Aquarius.

The analysis of an object like a glass of water would include its gross, chemical, atomic and subatomic states. Similarly, the analysis of an object could be from the 10th, 11th, and 12th Houses.

The glass of water can't be isolated from everything known about it; an object is multi-dimensional. In another example, the manifestation of the law of gravity in the 12th House, the falling apple, embodies the 11th House principle of gravity. Once these principles are distinguished, the functioning is concomitant with the object itself, and all levels of reference are included.

According to Plotinus, each and every Idea in the Intellectual Principle is a unique and special version of the entire, and this can be applied to any Idea. [Note: See Plotinus, V.9.8, third para.]

* The 11th House seems to be static to us, but it is a "dynamic realm of light". The 10th House upper solar world is the image-bearing light. The gods have deposited in that light their image. The image in the light, when projected out through the 12th House, contains the potential to manifest the gross realm. In that light are traces of the functioning of the Soul powers, made into an image-bearing light.

So everything on the Earth has the quality of this image-bearing light. The organism on the Earth interacts with its environment on the Earth, so each and every creature from a molecule to a man has the image of his environment within himself. The image as determinate perception arises within the man, from physiological forces from within and physical forces from without. The image arises on the Earth for a center of individual consciousness.

* MEANING OF IMAGE

The images that are experienced are a conjoint of the Soul and the locus of the Soul's environment (the body).

The imagination is primarily from the side of the organism, from his "grey matter". It's the last characteristic of the organism.

Once the Soul inhabits the body, the modifications of the body are predominant (though the interpretation is from the Soul).

The image is the creature's sensitivity to its environment (not necessarily visual, example a dog's sense of smell), something that belongs to the world. The protoplasm is capable of recording what happens to it in its environment--that's its image.

Surrounding the Earth is the belt of the tropical zodiac, a life unto itself. Our body comes from that tropical zodiac, and inhabits the Earth.

However, the knowing individual is not a product of the cosmos, the creative consciousness comes from within.

It was suggested there are 2 imaginations. The imagination which is part of the brain belongs to the body.

The act of imaging is a knowing, in which we can distinguish the act from what it knows.

The act of imaging (which is productive of what it knows) can be distinguished from imagination (the act of imaging's contents).

This is the crisis of epistemology.

* The 12th House occurs in the sense that we take a stance on one of the planets or stars, and need some sort of vehicle to have experience of that world. In the case of the Earth, the creature's experience is in the phylo-and-ontogenetic development of the Earth. From all the forms of life which left behind traces in the matter of the Earth, the net result is the development of a creature with a phylo-and-ontogenetic structure.

* MADHYAMIKA DHARMAS DIAGRAM

* The Madhyamika's 6 elements are constituents of the Earth entity, and bodies of creatures on the Earth. Where does the consciousness element come in?

It probably refers to the sensitivity of protoplasm to all stimuli. But this "consciousness element" is not really consciousness, from [sic; for] the livingness of a cell is one of the constituents of the Earth. Perhaps a better word would be "prehension" of a cell to its environment, or of one field force with another.

* The modifications come in through the biosphere or tropical zodiac (P.B.'s general karma would seem to correspond to that entity). What happens and at what level depends upon the dominant phase of the Soul.

The less powerful Soul follows the lead of the dignities in knowing the organization of those images from the tropical zodiac.

The dominant phase of the Soul, operative in the body, results in the kind of Nidana Chain that the individual experiences. In the sage, no Nidana Chain arises.
