3) How to distinguish the planet from the degree it's on--since both are intrinsic to the Soul (the image of the powers of the Soul are manifesting the activities of the Soul, the living meanings of the Soul)

When Jung speaks of the Archetypes such as Mother, Senex, etc, he is referring to traces of the powers of the Soul in the imagination, not to the contents of the imagination itself. These images of the Soul functions are the categories of the imagination.

These functions of the productive imagination are organizing the tropes, are manifesting the Reason-Principle into the tropes and are at the same time knowing these Reason-Principles. This knowing is a fourfold process (REDF) [Rulerships Exaltations Detriments Falls] which results in distinguishing these functions as explicit images of the Soul powers--hence leading to the unity of the Soul.

The Reason-Principles are going to determine what the powers of the Soul are going to actualize.

One cannot distinguish the activity of the categories from their content while one is in the imagination; it is only by employing the gnostic functions--particularly reason--that one can be aware of the categories of imagination as different from the content, and then further be able to distinguish between the contents of the imagination and the Reason-Principle(s). (Refractions themselves are the media in which the R.P. [Reason-Principles] appear; and as they function, they distinguish themselves from the R.P. which are projected as other.)

(Jung himself, using his Saturn in Aquarius in the first house, distinguished the categories of the imagination through the use of reason--not from empirical observation as he claimed.)

These gnostic functions that one employs in transcending and ordering the imagination are those gnostic powers of the Earth Soul.

The meanings (the R.P.) are constitutive of the second Soul, and seem as other through the functioning of the cosmocrators.

The origin of the Reason-Principle is in the first Soul's (Saturn in Leo) vision of the Intelligible Cosmos. That specific vision is what constitutes the Reason-Principle in Pisces--which is similar to another individual's.

? The origin of the planets ? as powers of the Soul is Jupiter in Virgo = six forces of Nature; although they take their meaning from the Soul ring placement:
