the Nidana Chain and Astrology

The nidana chain is the individual ego's reaction to the World-Idea and is the way we are making our own karma as well as our action according to our past karma. In general, the houses represent the general Idea of Man on this Earth into which the individual incarnates. We may speculate that this individual is represented by the grand cross: the ascendant, nadir, descendent, midheaven. The signs represent the Dragon and their interaction with the houses is how the animal in us reacts to the nidana chain. The planets then are the intermediaries between the signs and houses. As functions of the rational soul, they are how the individual understands this interaction with the World-Idea and the Dragon, and the planets also are the means he has for introducing a more rational process into the irrational.

As well as the planets actually present in a house, there are also the planets that rule the signs on the cusps of the houses and also a varying number of parts in each house. These parts may indicate the innate presuppositions a person brings to the circumstances of that house, how much he understands of that specific link in the nidana chain. So the aspect pattern is an image of the rational soul, the cross is the body-thought or the presence of the light of the individual soul in the World-Idea, and the houses are the World-Idea and the basis of the nidana chain.
